Had to wait about 10 minutes before the assistant got our information. Not long considering they have emergencies every day. Dr. Richardson was very good and gentle with my Yorkie. Got to see the x-rays, very helpful. Went home with a plan and medication.

Please dont use any other veterinary hospital in Helena, these guys where absolutely amazing! We had issues with the other A clinic and I've left reviews about them. Apex is a different breed! Pun intended! We had an emergency with a family member and they where compassionate and amazing at 1 am at night! Caint recommend any higher!

First off, I do appreciate you all taking care of our family dog in the time of need for the emergency visit. Our dog got mauled by another dog causing a lot of damage to her muscles and skin. We got an estimate of $1353.70 for the service they were going to provide to help our dog. They knew the condition of her when she was there and it should have been closer for the amount we were charged. The total bill for the service provided was $1764.51 which is $410.81 over the estimated cost. Comparing the estimate to the invoices, we discovered the General Anesthesia wasnt on the estimated costs which accounted for $355.00 of the $410.81 and the surgery was 0.3 different which is $111.00 difference. The surgery time was a guesstimate and I can see how that was different but missing out on the estimate for Anesthesia is a HUGE price increase to the estimate. Regardless of what the estimated total cost was, we were going to have the work performed to save our dogs life! Our estimate should have been closer to $1819.70 give or take which is a little higher than what our bill ended up being. Our dog needed some additional meds that cost $17.70 which wasnt a cause of this incident so that couldn't have been known at the time and not included. Our problem wasnt the level of care that was provided, it was the estimate we were given at the beginning and not getting the entire invoice upon pickup to show total charges leaving us question everything. I am in business for myself and estimate projects in the home service business. If I mess up on am estimate, I absorb the costs and not pass it to the homeowner. The reason I do this is because people budget their money and need to know beforehand how much things would cost and I dont want to give them a $400.00 surprise bill. The 2 things i recommend is work on your estimates to make them closer to the actual cost and give all the invoices to the customer when picking up their animal so there isn't any confusion on where the money went. Other than that, no other complaints. Thanks again for being available for our emergency visit!

We've been here before on recommendation from Bridger in Bozeman previously since it's closer to us since our cat has had frequent urinary issues despite medication and diet. Tonight after our regular vet was closed we called here since they had helped us tremendously with guidelines to the medication he is now taking and the calming plugs. And we had been told at our last emergency that if we needed anything to let them know. To start off the one answering the call was professional but apparently being seen previously for an emergency doesn't count as established and I didn't know that until I spoke to the on call vet. To be honest she didn't handle what I was saying with any care. I told her we've just moved a week ago and our cat hasn't peed in a day and a half. She consistently talked over me and then the moment she said we weren't established and then I asked where we were supposed to go for our EMERGENCY (since male cats get blockages thay are fatal) she proceeded to hang up on me. My husband then had to call back for me as I was in tears in disbelief because she didnt reroute us to the front desk for recommendations on anywhere close besides going to our vet. I said our vet was closed and that was about when she hung up. It was frustrating because a place we wanted to go for any future vet appointments has now put a horrendously poor taste in our mouth. Thank you again to the front desk who answered our second call and gave us recommendations, even though I was quite emotional. My husband and I have decided after this experience we will not establish with Alex in any form going forward and will now be going out of town for any further issues. All I'm learning is with being a 24/7 emergency office based off the website, I am truly appalled that even just for the prior message going into the emergency line that you don't state it's for established patients only.
